Autumn.

Helloo everyone.

It’s the second of November already, and it feels so weird, because seems just yesterday it was summer, July and August, heat, rush, nervousness about the new university year, etc. I don’t know why, but have never liked summer. Always have associated it with apathy, hating the heat and wanting to stay indoors, while ‘everyone probably’ is having much more fun. Yeah, I sound like such an optimistic person, sorry dear reader, and double sorry if you are a hardcore summer fanatic too. Think have always liked Autumn and Winter the most since I remember myself. At home, in Latvia, I live next to two parks with old big trees, and it’s always so beautiful when leaves change colors, or when it’s snowy, the trees are holding piles of snow, the parks looks like fairytales. Everything always looks so atmospheric, the colour changes, the quiet winds, cold, dark sky, it always makes me so happy when am at home, the park trees stand there as they have since I’ve lived there. Makes always rethink of the things that are happening and that seem so important at that current moment, how maybe silly the worries or anything is, etc. Silly.:) (very tired Agnese’s blabberings)!

So love this song, they played it as the first song at Bestival this year, it was so beautiful, always reminds of autumn as well. I don’t know, is it only me, but Autumn makes me want to listen to very dreamy music? Watch dreamy films, read dreamy books, drink tea and be sad and happy and sad and happy. I wish my mood wouldn’t change so much, one minute I want peace and quietness, in other, wish would be travelling, etc.

After last weeks Glitter theme, I think this week we will be having ‘Dreams’ theme on our show. Think dreamy, autumny films – Sofia Coppola (<3333333) haha:

and of course:

Or if you have patience, check out Tarkovskii’s ‘Solaris’ it’s very long, but great for autumn:

Talking about Virgin Suicides film, also one of my favourite blogs: http://www.thestylerookie.com/ writes much about dreamy, teeny, pastel things. I just want to be Tavi! So beautiful and so inspirational. I think I’m going through the post teenage years, when I want to dress up school girly type, with pleated skirts, blouses. Maybe I am just compensating that as I wasn’t really a girly girl in high school, never wore any skirt/dresses/girly stuff lol.

Anyway, this blog entry has turned into a very long rambling about autumn and my personal experiences :D, sorry! Me and Issi we will try to make a very nice program for Thursday’s show. Please listen to it and let us know what you’re thinking. 🙂

Okies, good night everyone and we will keep updating everything.

P.S. and a niiiiiice dreamy, autumny song 😀

Much love,

Ag xxx

Week

Agnese.

Hello, hello reader!

Hope you have had a good week and this Sunday evening isn’t too bad.  For me this week has been pretty okayish I guess and wow, our Cats on Toast is nominated for the Student Awards 2011! Thank you Goldsmiths! That is pretty awesome considering the fact that our main aim is not to take the show too seriously, but have fun and hopefully make it also interesting to listen for others. So – thank you again for like nominating us!:-D

Tomorrow’s show theme is….. *drum roll* ….. anti Valentines day! How original yesyes. To me personally Valentines day doesn’t mean anything really. I don’t hate it or love it, I guess it’s nice that there is one special day when it’s dedicated to celebrate love and what not. But on the other hand, like everyone else always says- who needs a special day to show your love and so on if you can/could do that every day. But of course, it’s kind of nice that there is this especially dedicated day to celebrate it. I don’t even know what is my point. Yeah. Anyway, been looking for the songs to play tomorrow and as a result I’m listening to the songs of the time when I was like 12-15:

(2001 Tom Delonge 4 ever and ever!!!)

Didn’t they tour now and so? My teenager’s dream would be fulfilled to see them live!:D

The times when every girl in school tried to look like her. 😀

and of course the times when I had huge obsession of placebo. Still love them so much! Have seen them live three times, but still the ultimate favorite is 2006 (?) Latvia’s gig when me and my friend queued outside the venue since 6 am to be in the first row (where in the end I wasn’t, because some big girl pushed me out haha). Placebo’s music pretty much sums up how I was like few years ago, probably the most influential band/music in my life so far.

So interesting that people can find their comfort, etc in music!

This week also went to Larry Clark’s (“Kids” 1995) exhibition’s opening ‘What do you do for fun?’ at the Simon Lee Gallery with Goldsmiths Photography society and it was so interesting and inspiring! It’s on till the 2nd April and would really suggest to go and see it.

‘Larry Clark holds a seminal position in American photography. Widely known for his treatment of teenage sexuality, violence and drug use, Clark’s contentious photographs and films are simultaneously unimaginable and unforgettable. This exhibition presents new collages as well as classic works for the first time in the UK.’  http://freeartlondon.wordpress.com/2011/02/10/larry-clark-what-do-you-do-for-fun/

On Friday went to really awesome punk band’s from Brooklyn – Japanther’s gig organised by Upset The Rhythm ( http://www.upsettherhythm.co.uk/ ) Quite long time hadn’t been to a gig where it was so much of energy, joy and so on (my English is so limited boo). People were dancing on the stage around the band and moshing, and despite me having a bad day, I was so happy after the gig. Definitely check them out, they were really really cool! http://www.myspace.com/officialjapanther 🙂

Hope you have a good next week and of course -> listen to Cats on Toast tomorrow at 5 pm. And from tomorrow you will be able to see the new posters of our show, so have a look and if you see some really weird poster saying something about cats and toasts, you know it’s us!:D

Much love and chocolate. xx

Just a couple of kooks.

Greetings.

Have some Bowie.

This week the theme of our show was NATURE, because being (sort of) country girls we love a bit of nature. We discussed our favourite natural places and tried to think of a few in London too, and of course played some groovy (and some questionable) music. I shall intersperse this post with some of my photos of lovely nature in Bath.

Baby Cow

I love baby cows

I *think* I have managed to upload the recording of the show to Megaupload, so you can click the link and download it if you missed us this week (for free of course!)
